7 Questions To Help You Choose The Right Wedding Photographer?
So, you had the wedding proposal, you said yes and now the planning starts. A big part of that planning is making sure you have a photographer for the big day.
Sounds simple doesn’t it? Well, it can be, but we thought we would help you with a few ideas based on experience and what our clients ask us.
1 How long have you been a paid/professional photographer? Sounds a basic question but you would be surprised at how many people buy a nice digital camera, shoot a family wedding and they think it’s a great idea to go out and sell it as a service!
2 What type of wedding photography do you offer? OK, a photo is a photo right? Well not really! There are reportage, documentary and traditional. Read our post on our style of photography here…
3 How do you edit the photographs? Any would be photographer can batch process a few hundred photographs in one go and you would be surprised how many top photographers do this. From our perspective though, we do it a little differently, well a lot differently actually. We initially choose our favourites and then edit each one manually with one person dong the editing and then cross checked by the other photographer to ensure quality and continuity.
4 What editing style can I have? Some photographers are less than imaginative when it comes to editing, there are those that do just basic editing processes and then you can get creative photographers that add in filters, colours, shading etc to enhance the image – we by the way are the latter!
5 How long will it be before I get my images? This to me is a bit of a deciding factor, a lot of photographers say between 4 and 12 weeks, I personally do not understand why you should be kept waiting all that time. We aim to have a few over within 12 hours so you have something to post to social media (we all know how important that is) and then the rest completed and edited within 2 weeks.
6 Do I have to use you for prints? Some photographers will only offer to do the reprints meaning you could be tied it to high prices and long waiting times, not with us, you receive full printing rights along with the high res images of all the shots edited.
7 Is there a limit of images you will take? Not with is, we keep on clicking until we have what we need. An average 4-6 hour wedding booking can mean you will get around 200-400 images, all professionally edited and presented digitally to you.
